Spotting a gap in the market for a truly integrated architecture & interior design practice, Jennifer established The Vawdrey House in 2012. Bringing both design disciplines together at the concept stage Jennifer & her team create spaces which work from the inside out.
With a BA in Interior Design and a RIBA Professional Practice Part 3, Jennifer combines her love for design and architecture to find highly creative solutions that make the most of buildings. With experience in everything from new-builds to listed heritage buildings, Jenny leads a highly experienced team of designers that consistently deliver exciting and unusual residential and commercial buildings, that often go on to win industry awards.
Before establishing The Vawdrey House, Jenny worked as a Director at MoreySmith where her commercial work won design awards for clients such as EMI and Sony Music. She also worked on high-end international residential projects.
A RIBA Chartered Architect & a BA Interior Architecture graduate, Ian brings a refreshing passion for blending both disciplines at the outset of every project, considering how architecture and structure will impact on the mood, look & feel of a space.
Ian’s expertise and knowledge of construction techniques, combined with a rigorous attention to detail ensures his multi-disciplinary team are well placed to deliver highly tailored homes & commercial spaces that exceed expectations.
Prior to joining The Vawdrey House, Ian was a Senior team leader at ArchitecturePLB developing projects for education clients including University College London & London School of Economics. Ian worked alongside the world renowned, Florien Beigel on the creation of the London Metropolitan School of Arts. Having honed his negotiation and project management skills keeping large scale projects to budget and on-time, Ian brings these invaluable skills to all The Vawdrey House's projects.
A RIBA Chartered Architect, with a background at ArchitecturePLB, Stephen has expertise in large scale sustainable, commercial architecture. Understanding varied construction methods, including Passivhaus, Stephen strives to incorporate meaningful local materials & circular sourcing into projects.
A founding member of The Vawdrey House, Sophie oversees the design team bringing her trademark energy & creativity to projects. With a BA in Interior Design & Environmental
Architecture, Sophie develops unique furniture packages, styles projects & loves sourcing trips to antique fairs & French brocantes!
With a background in furniture making, Olly adds enormous value to projects overlaying his in-depth knowledge of materials, manufacturing process & craftsmanship with his passion for design. An artist in his spare time, Olly considers form & function to innovate & streamline processes.
With a BA in Interior Architecture Sandy went on to study permaculture. She particularly enjoys supporting the creation of beautiful, relevant & impactful external landscapes. Sandy incorporates nature & the outside world into interior schemes often incorporating biophilic design principles.
Ana studied Product & Industrial Design at University before working as a kitchen designer in Spain. A creative to her core, Ana is now adding Landscape Design to her portfolio too. A strong advocate for the connection between good design & positive mental health, Ana favours using natural materials to create spaces, both inside and out.
In true Vawdrey House style, Joanna graduated with a 1st In Architecture from Oxford
Brookes University, holds a RIBA Part 1 as well as an Interior Design Diploma.
Blending both disciplines from the outset, Joanna takes a holistic approach,
designing a complete solution from start to finish.
Graduating from Chelsea College of Art, with a 1st in Interior Design, Amelia’s dissertation focussed on neurodiversity & its relation to the built environment. Amelia enjoys working in a fast-paced environment & her high level design eye & attention to detail is already making its mark on some exciting projects.
Stefanie is a RIBA Chartered Architect who is passionate about the creative re-use of existing buildings. She has extensive experience working with Grade I & II listed buildings & her sensitive approach to contexts has allowed her to modernise old buildings in a sustainable way.
Laura holds a degree in History of Art & Interior Architecture & maintains a keen interest in the psychology of design. With a strong belief that both commercial & residential buildings have the ability to empower their users experiences & lifestyles, Laura brings these principles into her engaging & exacting designs.
A graduate of The University of Warwick, Michele has extensive B2B & B2C marketing & PR experience, Michele spent several years working internationally at The Economist Group. Now a consultant specialising in design & construction related business, Michele supports The Vawdrey House with marketing & commercial direction.
We are always looking for enthusiastic Designers & Architects to join our growing team at a junior or mid-level in our Sussex studio. With impeccable organisation skills & fine-tuned attention to detail, Sarah brings a can do attitude, running The Vawdrey House studio with meticulous precision.
